This assignment focused on a typographic grid as it is applied in publication design and book design. This project introduce me to a complex typographic grids that include margins which mark boundaries for typographic elements; grid modules that assisted me in placing type and image; columns and the intervals of space between them (gutters) that accommodate text settings; spacial zones that help organize the various parts of information; and flow lines that establish a dominant alignment for elements and text. The grid structure allows for a logical hierarchy of information to be established making text much more accessible to the reader. This grid-based book design was used to establish hierarchy in a sequential publication with many pages of text.
